Language Placement Test
Has anyone here taken the language placement test for Chinese? I took level 1 at a JC this summer (assist says that it transfers to UCD) but I still have to take the verbal/oral placement test. I'm hoping to get in level 2 (only offered during winter quarter) soooo I need to take the placement test soon. How is it? I heard that it was extremely hard.

I took it, and it turned out to be a lot longer/complicated than I thought. I'm a native speaker and some of the questions required identifying wrong words and meanings. You are also required to demonstrate your writing skills.
It wasn't hard, but the complexity caught me by surprise.

Wait, what? When I took it, it was just a dude at a desk chatting to me in Chinese.

I really really put in an honest effort to bomb it (so I could get easy A's...yeaaaah) but they put me in 120.

and my Chinese is WAY worse than yours.

They probably chanced it since then...? I took it last year, I think.

^ yeah it's pretty long. I had to take it twice to skip over CHN5, and it was just as bad as the first time. I think if you've taken a class at a CC that recently, you should get into chn 2 no problem.

(there's traditional and simplified characters if you're concerned about that)
