Not that I'm saying this should be taken seriously or not
The Aggie calls last week a "success."

Yet they hardly cite the protest successful. They admit it themselves that the protest hurt the very constituents that it was aiming to protect. How can they call that anything but a failure? When the biggest victims that day were the very people this protest was serving to help, you only served to shoot your self in the foot in some symbolic gesture.

The only criteria I saw concerning what makes this protest successful, is the fact that lawmakers in Sacramento had no way to ignore their actions on March 4th. All fine in dandy if law makers actually concede to the demands of students, faculty, and staff. Unfortunately, from what I heard last, law makers aren't so moved.

So no, the Aggie shouldn't cite this as a success. That's bullshit public relations talk I would expect to hear from an executive at Windows regarding Vista. Be frank about it. Most of the students that were not involved in the cause (and you may have had hundreds of protesters, but keep in mind there are 30,000 students on campus), and you only succeeded in catching the attention of the police, who came out to get paid to protect you from getting on to a freeway.

it succeed in stopping buses and traffic, interrupting classes, getting on the front headlines and evening news. it succeed in having a good turn out for as a facebook event, for being the talk of the day, getting a lot of people mad at each other.

No, I'm pretty sure a success would have been the cops busting out the teargas and batons. If you're blocking traffic and causing an uprising, particularly over something that's, you know, completely unrelated, you deserve to have your ass beat.
