We're all going to die
"This is not a system in stasis. This is an out of control volcano of oil spewing up with 70,000 psi behind it, from a reservoir nearly the size of the Gulf, with an estimated trillions of barrels of oil and gas tucked away. What we are seeing now could be small compared to what may yet unfold if things break apart, as they can do under such circumstances. If this thing blew, it could be like the Yellowstone Caldera, except from below a mile of sea, with a 1/4-mile opening, with up to 150,000 psi of oil and natural gas behind it.

That would be an extinction event."

There's several things wrong with this original article. First, none of his numbers make sense: the oil reserves of the entire planet are conservatively estimated in the single-digit trillions. Solid rock would be liquid at "70,000 psi." Secondly, one of his only citations is some verse from the bible about the ocean bleeding. Finally, the article contains more than a few spelling errors and the writer happens to be a computer programmer, not a geologist, petrologist, or physicist.

and your point being? He clearly knows what he is talking about, or else he wouldn't be so foolish as to publish it, lest he be made fun of by the general public.

from article: "subterranean nuclear blasts were used as much as 169 times in the Soviet Union to accomplish fairly mundane tasks like creating underground storage spaces for gas or building canals."
